Thanks to Tobie Fysh to point out that the steps described in the previous post KB2982006 missing while installing SfB Server 2015 on Up-to-date Windows Server 2012 R2, don’t apply if we are doing an inplace upgrade from Lync Server 2013 to Skype for Business Server 2015.
We cannot use the same workaround because the Skype for Business Server 2015 Inplace Upgrade Wizard performs an additional check for the KB2982006 prerequisite.
Since these servers don’t have Internet access, we will skip the Check for Updates:
In the Verify upgrade readiness stage, the KB2982006 prerequisite check should failed. For now, we can Skip it:
The Skype for Business Server 2015 Inplace Upgrade Wizard should continue, until it fails again in the Installing roles stage:
We don’t need to close it, instead, we run the Skype for Business Cumulative Update. Like the previous post, we will use the July 2018 CU (6.0.9319.534):
Now, we can go back to the Skype for Business Server 2015 Inplace Upgrade Wizard and select Retry:
This time the KB2982006 prerequisites check should be satisfied and the installation will continue:
After a few minutes the inplace upgrade will finish:
Finally, we need to make sure that all components are updated, we can do this by running again the Skype for Business Cumulative Update that we previously use (6.0.9319.534):
